Nonsurgical Facelifting Choices : a Review

I’m in my fifties now, and like every other woman, I worry about the way my face is aging.

I’m too scared to go ‘under the knife’, so I’m always looking for a non-invasive facelift. The first non-surgical facelift I tried was CACI. It’s a well-established treatment which uses microcurrents. I tried CACI just after I turned 40 and was disappointed it didn’t improve my already sagging jowls.

The silly thing is, once I looked into it,CACI doesn’t exercise sagging face muscles or treat wrinkles at all. The scientific evidence proves it boosts elastin and collagen, but that’s it.

After that, I gave up searching for non-invasive facelifts, until I started seeing ads for the “Sixty Minute Facelift”. Thermage uses radiofrequency. It’s a single one-hour treatment, and there’s no downtime. Perfect, I thought!

Then I Googled ‘Thermage’ and found forums full of women who’d been left with permanent dents and dimples in their skin after the treatment! Apparently, Thermage works by stimulating your body’s own natural collagen. The doctor can’t be certain how evenly it will grow. That’s why some patients end up with bumps where it grows too much, or hollows where it doesn’t. If that happens, you’re stuck with it (the only way to correct it is plastic surgery).

Next, I considered IPL (Intense Pulsed Light), but changed my mind when I enquired at one salon and was told that they only used their IPL machine for hair removal. They said only medically qualified staff can administer IPL for skin rejuvenation, because of the risks of using the machine on very high settings. That word ‘risk’ was enough for me! Finally, I looked into phototherapy – and there, I hit paydirt! I researched the Omnilux treatment and couldn’t find a single negative review. I couldn’t find an Omnilux salon but I did find a Rejuvalight salon (which is a similar treatment by a different supplier).
